Introduction
In order to encourage university students to study competitively and create opportunities for the promotion of their academic standings, it was approved in 1995, that a nation-wide scientific student Olympiad be held annually. The National Organization for Educational Testing (NOET) was authorized to administer the Olympiads. The goal is to expand the domain of activities to have the talented university students from Islamic countries , the ECO member countries and other nations to participate in the Olympiads at the international level.
Academic Aims
1. To identify gifted students in various academic fields.
2. To guide the talented youngsters and help them flourish.
3. To motivate professors, administrators and program planners to reexamine the current educational programs and to improve them.
4. To understand the objectives and acquire necessary information on the level and quality of educational systems.
5. To analyze the data obtained in order to identify the factors influencing the quality of educational systems.
6. To recognize and promote advantages of the academic experience of other countries.
7. To utilize the experience of participating countries and help the countries to improve the quality of their educational systems.
8. To create an academic and research oriented atmosphere among students from different countries.
9. To encourage students to follow the best possible academic methods for the acquisition of knowledge.
Cultural Aims

Fields of Competition in Olympiad
The National organization for Educational Testing of the Islamic Republic of Iran has organized the Olympiad in various fields of Science and Engineering.
The areas currently administered are:

The exams in Mathematics (both Pure and Applied) and Chemistry are being held internationally.
Qualifications for International Participants in Olympiads on Mathematics and Chemistry
International undergraduate majoring in Pure or Applied Mathematics, Chemistry or related fields at their 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate studies can participate in the respective Olympiad provided that they are officially recommended and introduced by their corresponding governments or institutions.
Each country can select and nominate five top qualified students in Mathematics and/or Chemistry and introduce them as separate teams through the Office of International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Iran.
Note: The National Organization for Educational Testing in Iran undertakes the food, accommodation, and domestic transportation costs. All other costs are to be covered by the participating teams.
Topics to Be Tested
Topics include the course materials at the undergraduate level. The exams will be in English and descriptive.
Mathematics Olympiad
An international participant can take part in either Pure or Applied Mathematics. Participants in Pure Mathematics will sit for the exams on subjects 1, 2, 3, 4 and the participants in Applied Mathematics will do so on subjects 1, 2, 3, 5 of the following list:
1-Mathematical Analysis
2-Numerical Analysis
3-Linear Algebra
4-Algebra
5-Operations Research
Chemistry Olympiad
Participants in Chemistry Olympiad will sit on the exams for the following subjects:
1- Physical Chemistry
2-Inorganic Chemistry
3-Organic Chemistry
4-Analytical Chemistry
Examination Schedule
The Olympiad Examinations are usually held in July every year. The exact time will be announced in due time.
